In September 2022, Helen Nellis, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire CVO CITY, and Bosom Pals patron, recently stood down from her position. Helen was appointed by HM The Queen as the Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire and began her term of office on 22nd February 2012.

Bosom Pals were asked if we would like to send representatives to attend the service of Thanksgiving held at St Paul’s Church in Bedford so Margaret and Sue went on our behalf.

It was a lovely service attended by many dignitaries also many charitable organisations from Bedfordshire.
Sue and Margaret enjoyed the service and meeting some of the dignitaries.

Helen’s replacement as Lord-Lieutenant is Susan Lousada. Working together with a team of Deputy Lieutenants and as the King’s representative, the Lord-Lieutenant may undertake the following duties:

  • presenting awards, such as the King’s Awards for Enterprise and the King’s Award for Voluntary Service
