Brenda, Pauline and Denise had accepted an invitation on behalf of Bosom Pals to go along to the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Temple to have a stall about our organisation.
Well sounds easy, as long as you know which temple you are going to which unfortunately Brenda did not. So she had directed Denise to the one in Ashburnham road. After confusing members there and a phone to call to Pauline who had told us she was already there we established we were at the wrong Temple. No wonder Brenda didn’t do very well at Geography at school!!!
After finally getting there and a false start of room to set up due to so many people wanting to attend we were able to find a table and set up. The session was mainly about prevention and not where to go if you are diagnosed. There were lots of Doctors there taking blood pressures etc. We did have a few enquiries and chatted to quite a few people. It was an interesting event and we learnt a lot about other topics but we did not gain any new members from it.
We have tried several events since being discussed at last year’s AGM about trying to promote ourselves. This has included an event at Wixams Retirement Village of which Brenda, Denise and Margaret will be attending again on the 25th June.
The Transfiguration Church in Kempston also held a fete and we had been asked to attend which we did last year and again we do not gain any new members.
We will see what else we are asked to attend and will always do so if possible.
