This registered charity (No. 1164960) was founded in 2015 by Fiona and her husband Andy.  Fiona and her daughter Francesca who has now joined the charity, met with some of the Bosom Pals committee for a coffee recently when they told us about themselves and the aims of the charity.

They have set up a comprehensive website where people and their families affected by cancer can access a variety of free offers donated by companies and these include things such as restaurant meals, hotel stays, theatre tickets, beauty/spa treatments, theme park tickets and much more.

To qualify for one of the benefits you need to be within 3 years of your diagnosis of any form of cancer and still be in possession of the letter telling you the bad news.  You have to send a scanned copy of this letter together with your application which is on their website.  Once your registration is approved you can choose your treat from the wide range offered all over the country.

If you, or someone you know, would like to take advantage of the things offered by this charity then go to their website www.somethingtolookforwardto.org.uk.  They also have a facebook page – Something to Look Forward To – and Twitter – @look4W2 – where benefits such as theatre of event tickets are sometimes available at short notice.

Any members who wish to proceed but do not have access to a scanner or computer can contact me, Pauline, and I will help in processing the necessary online application.

Since the charity was launched in December 2015 it has given more than £40,000 in gifts and experiences to more than 800 people affected by cancer and their families.

Fiona went with her family to the Palace of Westminster to receive the British Citizen Award in recognition of her outstanding efforts to make a change to communities.  Bedford Bosom Pals wish to congratulate her and say a big thank you for thinking of us all.
