Elizabeth Wiggins Retires

Elizabeth has been our breast care nurse for 12 years.  When Elizabeth joined the breast care team Gloria was in post and they became a great team together.   When Gloria retired there was a time when Elizabeth was the only breast care nurse.

ELIZABETH WIGGINS RETIRESDespite the work pressures she must have been under she has always found time for Bosom Pals members, attending every Group meeting night and most of our social events.  Nothing was ever too much trouble for her.  Elizabeth passion is family history and, along with her husband Alan, they came along to a couple of our meetings and told us how to get started on tracing your family history.  Their enthusiasm has got a number of us hooked on researching our own family history.  Elizabeth retired at the end of January and we celebrated her retirement at the January meeting and again on 16 January when we took her out for a retirement meal.

Elizabeth is going for a month’s holiday to see her daughter in Australia who has just given birth to twins, Zac (7lb) and Mia (6lb). Her farewell gift from Bosom Pals was a set of silver photo-frames, somewhere for her to put her photographs of her grandchildren.  We also gave her £100 in gift vouchers.  Elizabeth has written thanking us for the presents and asking that we pass this onto all of you who contributed towards her gift.  We are sorry that Elizabeth is leaving us but wish her and Alan a very long, happy and healthy retirement.  We hope she will keep in touch.  At our AGM we intend to propose that Elizabeth be made an Honorary Member and we hope she will accept.

Elizabeth leaves the breast care service in the capable hands of Bridget Ashdown and Rachel Bryce and I am delighted to say that a third breast care nurse has been appointed, Alison Shields, we look forward to meeting Alison and continuing to work with all three of the breast care nurses.
