Bosom Pals Meetings

Bosom Pals Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 7.30pm to around 9.45pm in the hall of the Church of the Transfiguration, Bedford Road, Kempston, Bedford, MK42 8BQ. This is located opposite Addison Park, between Cleveland Street and Margetts Road. There is plenty of parking both on the driveway down to the church and in the overspill car park adjacent to the hall.

We provide tea or coffee and biscuits at the beginning of the meeting, followed by a talk or demonstration of about 3/4 hour on a large variety of subjects. We usually have an “open” meeting in January, where members come along and just talk to each other about anything and everything. Your first meeting is free,  after that we charge an entry fee of £2 per meeting which helps to cover our costs.

Prospective new members are always most welcome to attend one of our meetings to see if they would like to join us.

Due to popular demand, we will again attempt to play crazy bag whist at our August meeting.  For any new comers, it is a very simple game of cards which provides a fun evening in which members will change partners and move to other tables, thereby chatting to members that they possibly don't get a chance to talk to on normal meeting evenings.

Everyone intending playing needs to bring a bag (preferably a gift bag which will stand on the floor) and 3 items (unwrapped).  1 should be of 50p worth, 1 a £1 and 1 at £1.50.  Everyone will go home with 3 different items and their value will depend on how well you and your every changing partners play.

Members who do not wish to play will still be most welcome to attend.  Cake will be available with tea/coffee.

Once again our October meeting is going to be a fund-raising coffee and cake event and this year the members were given a choice of 3 local charities from which to select which one we should support.  The Bedford Daycare Hospice which is situated in Linden Road, Bedford was the most popular choice.  This organization provides holistic care for adults with a life-limiting illness in a calm homely atmosphere from the point of diagnosis through treatment to remission or palliative care.  The "whole person" is cared for; mind, body and spirit.  It is a chance for the patient to be themselves in a safe place, away from the clinical environment, where the focus is on living.  At least 2 of our own members are volunteers there.

There will be the usual cake sale (donations please), book stall, jigsaw tombola and guess the name of the white rabbit soft toy.  Members can bring as many friends/family as they wish but are asked not to arrive until 7.45 unless they are a helper.

This will be our 2nd social evening for 2019 but this time we will be playing "crazy bag whist" which as most of you know is a very simple game of cards which you will play with a different partner for each game, moving round the room which gives members a chance to meet and talk to each other.  Each member needs to bring 3 items unwrapped and in a gift or similar bag which can stand on the floor.  One item should be worth each of these amounts - 50p, £1 and £1.50.  At the end of the evening everyone should go home with 3 items in their bag but their value will depend on how well they do throughout the evening.   There will be some spare filled bags for those who forget theirs which can be purchased from Pauline.

Come and join us for a fun evening with cake served with your tea/coffee.
